The Seattle Division honors Bahaa Wanly for brokering and facilitating ties between the Seattle-area Somali community and local and federal law enforcement. Mr. Wanly has reached out to various communities within the greater Seattle area to foster an environment of understanding and dialogue. Mr. Wanly’s extensive and exhaustive efforts have helped to strengthen relationships between these groups and federal law enforcement. Whether in regards to civil rights or other matters, these talks have played an instrumental role in improving community relations. Mr. Wanley has served as host and facilitator for numerous gatherings, bringing the FBI and Muslim community leaders together. Mr. Wanley’s community awareness has led to increased and fruitful relationships between the Cham and Somali communities as well as Muslim community leaders at local mosques. Mr. Wanly has a unique ability to cross cultural boundaries, clearly explains concepts and issues, and articulates the various concerns of the communities. Through his ongoing efforts, Mr. Wanly has demonstrated that engagement and dialogue are key to establishing successful relationships. |
