The Memphis Division honors Linda K. Miller for her contributions to the community in both a professional capacity and as a volunteer.

In 2011, while serving in multiple capacities within Shelby County, Ms. Miller coordinated the development of the Family Safety Center, a place where victims of domestic violence can seek help. More than 20 partners, including law enforcement and social service agencies, joined Ms. Miller and Operation Safe Community’s efforts to provide services for abuse victims and their children. In addition, Ms. Miller worked to coordinate the implementation of a research-based crime abatement plan designed to make the community safer.

Ms. Miller has actively participated in a variety of other committees, task forces, and non-profit organizations, including the Family Safety Center of Memphis and Shelby County; the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Memphis, Inc.; the Victims’ Assistance Center; and the Juvenile Justice and Grant Reviews Committee for the Tennessee Commission on Children and Youth. She has worked with county officials, attorneys, neighborhood associations, community development corporations, civic clubs, Hadassah, The Memphis Area Association, Mothers Against Drunk Driving, Victims to Victory, The Early Childhood Coalition, The Urban Institute, and neighborhood watch groups.
