The FBI is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individual or individuals responsible for the murder of Alaysia M. Bennett.


On December 21, 2016, at 12:10 a.m., Alaysia M. Bennett was a passenger in a parked vehicle in the 2400 block of West Washington Street in Springfield, Illinois. She was fatally injured by a gunman who fired multiple shots into the vehicle after exiting the rear sliding door of a black van (possibly a Dodge). The suspect was described as having a slim build, was of average height, and wore a black sweatshirt. The suspect used a handgun, and should be considered armed and dangerous.
