Mollie Halpern: A man wanted for murdering his cousin is on the lam, and the FBI is asking for the public’s tips to help track him down.

Ruben Perez Rivera, a Mexican citizen, traveled to Mesa, Arizona, where his ex-girlfriend was living with his cousin.

Lance Leising: He traveled all the way from Mexico back here to Mesa, Arizona to commit the crime.

Halpern: Rivera grabbed a butcher knife from the kitchen and broke down the bedroom door where the two were hiding.

Special Agent Lance Leising says Rivera found his cousin hiding in a closet.

Leising: He began stabbing him, and he killed him there in the closet, and then fled.

Halpern: It happened in 2007.

Leising: We're not going to stop looking. The FBI continues to look for these fugitives. We're not going to slow down. We'll continue to look for him until he is in custody and brought to justice.

Halpern: In addition to Arizona, Rivera has ties to Salt Lake City. He could be hiding in the Southwest United States or in Mexico.

If you have any information about Rivera’s whereabouts, call your local FBI office or the nearest American Embassy or Consulate. With Wanted by the FBI, I’m Mollie Halpern of the Bureau.
