Dr. Javaid Perwaiz was arrested on November 8, 2019, on federal health care fraud charges brought in the Eastern District of Virginia. According to allegations detailed in court documents, for nearly a decade, Dr. Perwaiz performed unnecessary gynecological surgeries on unsuspecting patients. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia has published a web page to provide information and updates about the case.
