The Knoxville Division is pleased to honor Regal Entertainment Group for its notable contributions to combating crimes against children. In 2011, Regal Entertainment Group partnered with the FBI to promote the Safe Online Surfing program. The FBI’s Safe Online Surfing (FBI-SOS) program is a free Internet safety program designed to help students recognize potential dangers associated with using the Internet. Developed in 2005, FBI-SOS became a national initiative administered by the FBI’s Cyber Division. The program delivers critical Internet safety information in a fun, competitive format to students in third through eighth grades. Regal Entertainment Group donated screen time to air a public service announcement (PSA) in theaters nationwide to help the FBI promote cyber safety and prevent crimes against children. The PSA was shown in theaters for a week during September 2011 and then for an additional two weeks on the Regal Cinemas Lobby Entertainment Network. Regal Entertainment Group is headquartered in Knoxville, Tennessee. The company operates the largest and most geographically diverse theater circuit in the United States, with 6,635 screens in 532 theaters in 37 states and the District of Columbia. In 2010, more than 224 million patrons watched movies at Regal Cinema locations.
