Pittsburgh field office Director’s Community Leadership Award 2011

The Pittsburgh Division is pleased to honor Mr. James Krenn, a media personality most recently on Pittsburgh’s WDVE Morning Show. For more than 25 years, he has been dedicated to supporting community and national charitable organizations. Mr. Krenn has used his popularity to raise more than $1.2 million for Pittsburgh charities through the production, release, and sale of more than 200,000 comedy CDs. He has also worked to raise funds for national organizations such as Toys for Tots, the Multiple Sclerosis Service Society, and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Mr. Krenn and WDVE’s annual radio-thon has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for Pittsburgh Children’s Hospital, and for the last 10 years, he has worked with the Epilepsy Foundation to raise more than $1 million.

In 2011, Mr. Krenn graduated from the FBI’s Citizens Academy and showcased the program on the first season of his Internet video series, “Jim Krenn Raw.” The two Citizens Academy episodes have received more than 5,000 hits on YouTube.

In a ceremony at FBI Headquarters, Director Robert S. Mueller, III recognized the recipients of the 2011 Director’s Community Leadership Award. These leaders, selected by their area FBI field office, have demonstrated outstanding contributions to their local communities through service. The FBI is grateful for the work of each of these individuals and organizations on behalf of their communities.

“Whatever the motivation—an unfilled need, a tragic occurrence, a desire to give back—these are people who make things happen and enlist others in their cause,” said Director Mueller. “They are activists who have earned their prestige through good works.”
