2011 Director’s Community Leadership Awards

Albuquerque Thomas Craig

Albuquerque field office Director’s Community Leadership Award 2011

The Albuquerque Division is pleased to honor Thomas Craig for his commitment to keeping his local community informed and aware of cyber threats.

In July 2010, Mr. Craig played a crucial role in preparing a press release that provided small businesses, general consumers, and financial institutions information on how to protect themselves from cyber attacks. He also assisted the Albuquerque Division in facilitating opportunities for agents to meet with local financial institutions to keep them aware of ongoing threats related to the financial sector.

Mr. Craig served for 20 years with the Albuquerque Police Department and now works as a fraud investigator and security manager for the New Mexico Educators Federal Credit Union. He volunteers his time assisting local, state, and federal law enforcement when needed. Mr. Craig has served as the co-chair of the Financial Institution Security Officers Association, an organization that educates local financial institutions, law enforcement agencies, and consumers about new threats and methods used by criminals.

In a ceremony at FBI Headquarters, Director Robert S. Mueller, III recognized the recipients of the 2011 Director’s Community Leadership Award. These leaders, selected by their area FBI field office, have demonstrated outstanding contributions to their local communities through service. The FBI is grateful for the work of each of these individuals and organizations on behalf of their communities.

“Whatever the motivation—an unfilled need, a tragic occurrence, a desire to give back—these are people who make things happen and enlist others in their cause,” said Director Mueller. “They are activists who have earned their prestige through good works.”
