David B. Alvarez is a familiar face not only in Harrison County, but also at the FBI Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Division. Mr. Alvarez has been a part of the extended FBI family since 2005 when he attended the inaugural CJIS Division Citizens’ Academy.

In 2007, the CJIS Division, Pittsburgh Division, and the City of Clarksburg signed an agreement to jointly construct a Harrison County Law Enforcement Firearms Range. Very little progress had been made in the construction of this range in over one year. When made aware of this lag in implementation, Mr. Alvarez immediately offered the services of his company to assist with the construction.

Mr. Alvarez has been a long-time supporter of the Genesis Youth Crisis Center, Inc., a shelter for abandoned and abused children. Genesis is a partner for citizenship and education with the FBI CJIS Division. He worked closely with the board of directors during the building of their Alta Vista Children’s Shelter, providing engineering and financial assistance.

As a member of the West Virginia University (WVU) Mountaineer Athletic Club, he helped to form a partnership between the WVU Athletic Department, the CJIS Division, and the American Football Coaches Association. This partnership has resulted in the distribution of nearly one hundred thousand Child ID Kits at WVU football games over the past several years.

Mr. Alvarez has been a major supporter of the Harrison County “Hooked on Fishing Not on Drugs” program. This program encourages school age children to participate in outdoor alternatives such as hunting and fishing rather than taking drugs. He also provides his time and donates equipment for Eagle Scout projects. He is a major supporter of the annual Boy Scout Leadership Dinner in Harrison County. Mr. Alvarez continues to support the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Camp Catch-a-Breath, and the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
