FBI Louisville Announces Recipient of Director’s Community Leadership Award

Special Agent in Charge (SAC) Howard S. Marshall is pleased to announce Robert Asseo as the 2015 recipient of the FBI’s Director’s Community Leadership Award (DCLA) for the Louisville Division.

The FBI presents this award annually on behalf of its Director, James B. Comey. Established in 1990, the award honors individuals and organizations for their efforts to prevent crime, terrorism, drugs, and violence and to further law enforcement efforts in their communities. Each year, the SAC of each of the FBI’s 56 field offices selects an honoree that made a significant difference in the lives of others.

A native of Puerto Rico, Mr. Asseo arrived in the Northern Kentucky area in 1986, speaking only broken English. He is currently a field service manager at Delta Air Lines and Commissioner of the 6th District for the Kentucky Commission on Human Rights.

Mr. Asseo has played a crucial role in bridging relations between local minority communities, law enforcement, and various government entities. He selflessly volunteered his time to provide translation assistance to local law enforcement and successfully meditated potential civil rights concerns. Mr. Asseo also assisted the FBI in expanding our Northern Kentucky inroads into such crucial programs as civil rights, human trafficking, victim assistance, and greater awareness of public corruption.

A presentation of the award will be held on February 29, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport, Concourse B, ACS conference room. In April, Mr. Asseo will also join DCLA recipients selected by other FBI field offices across the nation at an award ceremony held in Washington, D.C.
