Inmates Sentenced for Rioting in a Federal Prison Facility

NATCHEZ, MI—Two inmates were sentenced by Senior U.S. District Judge David Bramlette on June 12, 2014, for rioting at the Adams County Correctional facility on May 20, 2012, announced U.S. Attorney Gregory K. Davis.

Margarito Munoz-Astello, 37, originally of Tamaulipas, Mexico, was sentenced to 84 months in federal prison, and Raybel Granillo, 29, originally of Juarez, Mexico, was sentenced to 57 months in federal prison. Both inmates were also ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $1,382,313.00.

Another inmate, Ian Reid, 37, of Jamaica, also appeared in federal court on June 12th to enter a guilty plea to rioting in a federal prison facility. He will be sentenced on September 11, 2014, and faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Patrick Lemon.
