Kidnapping and Sexual Assault Arrest Seeking Potential Victims

DOUGLAS, AZ—The FBI Phoenix – Sierra Vista Resident Agency and the Douglas Police Department are asking for the public’s help in seeking potential victims and additional information about an alleged sexual offender and former Customs and Border Protection Officer (CBPO), Aaron Thomas Mitchell.

Mitchell, 27, was recently charged in connection with an incident in which it is alleged that Mitchell kidnapped a 15-year-old in Douglas, Arizona, transported her to Sierra Vista, Arizona, and sexually assaulted her.

On April 26, 2022, Mitchell was arrested in Sierra Vista, Arizona, and booked into the Cochise County jail. The investigation is ongoing, and it is believed that additional victims may exist.

Mitchell lived in the Ft. Lauderdale, Florida area from the 1990s to 2021 before moving to Sierra Vista, Arizona, for work. Mitchell worked as a CBPO at the U.S. Port of Entry in Douglas, Arizona, until the time of his arrest.
