Statement of Martin Culbreth, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI Norfolk Field Office, in Recognition of National Police Week

During Police Week, we take time to honor and remember law enforcement officers who have fallen in the line of duty. It is with great humility we pay tribute to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our communities.

I would especially like to recognize and honor the three law enforcement officers in Virginia who have lost their lives since last year: Police Officer Katherine Mary Thyne, Newport News Police Department; Major Angelanette Moore, Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail; and Master-at-Arms Oscar J. Temores, United States Navy Security Forces. We are grateful for their service and will never forget their sacrifice.

We also recognize those who continue to serve every day on the front lines of law enforcement. Carrying the badge is heavy obligation but an honorable one. Here at the FBI, we have great respect for our law enforcement colleagues—we could not do our jobs without those partners who work with us side by side. We are thankful to them for choosing this life of service and grateful to their family, friends, and loved ones for sharing them with us.
