FBI New Orleans SWAT Team Arrests a Ranking Member of the Louisiana Tactical Militia

On August 25, at approximately 8:45 a.m., the FBI New Orleans Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF), in cooperation with the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office, arrested James Moore in Mandeville, Louisiana and charged him with distribution of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.

During the course of an FBI Domestic Terrorism investigation, the New Orleans JTTF became aware of James Moore of Talisheek, Louisiana, 46 years old, an alleged methamphetamine dealer and a ranking member of the Louisiana Tactical Militia.

James Moore was allegedly involved in trafficking large quantities of methamphetamine and claimed to have access to a surplus of over 80 firearms, as well as a stockpile of food and provisions to maintain his militia for a 60-day period.

Moore was arrested without incident by the FBI New Orleans Division SWAT team in Mandeville.

He was later remanded to the custody of the United States Marshals Service.

This case will be prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Eastern District of Louisiana.

The public is reminded that all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
