Baton Rouge Man Arrested, Charged with Distribution and Possession of Child Pornography

BATON ROUGE—On April 2, 2018, the FBI Baton Rouge Resident Agency Office and Louisiana State Police arrested Steven Joseph Everhardt in the Baton Rouge area, charging Everhardt with distribution and possession of child pornography.

After a joint federal and state investigation, Steven J. Everhardt, age 51 and a resident of Baton Rouge, was arrested on Monday, April 2, 2018 at approximately 3:00 p.m. In conjunction with a state issued arrest warrant, Everhardt was found to be in possession of over 900 images depicting pornography involving juveniles.

Everhardt was taken into custody without incident and transported to the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. He was subsequently charged with 900 counts of LRS 14:81.1 Possession of Pornography Involving Juveniles and 30 counts of LRS 14:81.1 Distribution of Pornography Involving Juveniles.

The public is reminded criminal complaints and indictments contain only charges and are not evidence of guilt. Defendants are presumed to be innocent until and unless proven guilty.
