FBI Recognizes Dismas House with the 2018 Director’s Community Leadership Award

NASHVILLE, TN—The FBI Memphis Field Office—Nashville Resident Agency recognized Dismas House with the 2018 Director’s Community Leadership Award today, April 18, 2019. Dismas House was selected by the FBI Memphis Field Office for their extraordinary service to the Nashville community.

Dismas House, founded by a group of Vanderbilt University students and the Reverend John Daniel “Jack” Hickey in 1974, provides temporary housing and support services for individuals transitioning from prisons and jails. Those re-entering society after incarceration face many barriers. In addition to providing a loving and supportive home, Dismas House provides holistic, client-specific services that empower self-sufficiency.

The Director’s Community Leadership Award was established in 1990 by the FBI in an effort to publicly recognize the achievements of individuals and organizations that make extraordinary contributions to the prevention of crime and violence.
