FBI Chicago Participates in 2017 National Night Out

FBI Chicago joined law enforcement across the area, and the country, to participate in this year’s National Night Out. Chicago FBI agents, professional support staff, and Citizens Academy graduates took part in seven different community events on the city’s south and west sides, including ones in the Austin and Englewood neighborhoods.

Residents had a chance to get an up-close look at some of the gear FBI agents use and to learn about some of FBI Chicago’s community outreach programs–like the FBI Chicago Explorers Post, Safe Online Surfing, and the annual Citizens Academy classes.

The goal of the National Night Out campaign is to promote positive relationships between law enforcement and the communities they serve. “One of the cornerstones of the FBI is engaging the public and listening to their concerns as we investigate criminal activity with our law enforcement partners,” said FBI Chicago Special Agent in Charge Michael Anderson.
