The man who robbed a northwest Albuquerque bank Friday night appears to have struck again Saturday (October 4).

The FBI and Albuquerque Police Department are investigating a robbery that occurred at approximately 9:36 a.m. Saturday at a branch of New Mexico Bank & Trust located at 3701 4th St. NW.

The suspect in the latest robbery is described as a Native American or possibly Hispanic male in his 30s, approximately 5’8” to 5’10” tall, with a medium to thick build.

He wore what appeared to be a long, black wig, along with a black baseball cap, sunglasses, black shirt, blue jeans, and black and white sneakers.

Witnesses said the suspect entered the bank, handed a demand note to a teller, and placed a black bag on the counter.

After the teller put an undisclosed amount of money in the bag, the suspect moved on to another teller and verbally demanded money, which that teller also put in the bag.

The suspect then left the bank.

It is possible the suspect got into a red- or burgundy-colored Jeep.

The suspect’s description appears to be the same as that of a man who robbed a Bank of America branch at 1704 Highway 528 NW at approximately 5:02 p.m. on Friday.

That suspect in that robbery also wore what looked like a long, black wig, and his physical description and clothing are similar.

The FBI may pay a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of a bank robber.

Bank robbery carries a possible prison term of up to 20 years. The use of a gun, other dangerous weapon, toy gun, or hoax bomb device during the commission of a bank robbery can be punishable by a prison term of up to 25 years.
