Charlotte | Rachel Braver |
In Charlotte, Rachel Braver is the coordinator for the North Carolina Human Trafficking Task Force. She works to promote awareness and educate and train law enforcement officials across the state. Through her efforts, the task force has been invaluable in helping the FBI address the issue of human trafficking. She has worked tirelessly to ensure that basic law enforcement curriculum is written and implemented, has met with and/or trained 10-15 law enforcement agencies in North Carolina, and has conducted numerous public outreach programs. In addition to working with the women’s centers of the University of North Carolina and the North Carolina Justice Academy, she has worked closely with county law enforcement agencies to facilitate referrals and develop investigative protocols. Ms. Braver has also coordinated the Raleigh-Durham rapid response team and has facilitated efforts to start and expand local groups that assist law enforcement by providing victim services in human trafficking cases. She has met with grassroots advocates and many other community groups seeking to play a role in anti-trafficking work. During her time in her current position, she has helped turn a once ad hoc committee into a functional organization that is recognized as an authority on anti-trafficking issues. |
