In Albany, David Graham left a career with great professional rewards to devote himself to providing inner-city youth the adult guidance they so desperately need. Currently, Mr. Graham is an employee of both the Albany City School District and the Capital District YMCA.

A graduate of the State University of New York Institute of Technology and Hudson Valley Community College, Mr. Graham’s personal goal is helping kids succeed.

During the summer months, Mr. Graham works with Pastor Charlie Muller (2008 DCLA recipient), helping provide thousands of free meals as part of Pastor Charlie’s “feeding program,” as well as recruiting volunteers for this unique community opportunity.

Mr. Graham also works with Ron “Cook” Barrett (2001 DCLA recipient) in helping kids get off the streets through a Saturday night teen gang-prevention program. In addition, he runs a summer basketball camp in the Adirondack Mountains which serves underprivileged youth.

In a ceremony at FBI Headquarters, Director Robert S. Mueller, III recognized the recipients of the 2010 Director’s Community Leadership Award. These leaders, selected by their area FBI field office, have demonstrated outstanding contributions to their local communities through service. The FBI is grateful for the work of each of these individuals and organizations on behalf of their communities.

“Whatever the motivation—an unfilled need, a tragic occurrence, a desire to give back—these are people who make things happen and enlist others in their cause,” said Director Mueller. “They are activists who have earned their prestige through good works.”
