Albert L. Ingle

1903 - 1931

On November 24, 1931, Special Agent Albert L. Ingle, who had been with the Bureau less than one year, died of a gunshot wound in Durham, North Carolina.

At the direction of the U.S. Attorney, Special Agent Ingle and a private detective had been moving a package of evidence in connection with an investigation into possible federal violations. During this process, the weapon carried by the detective fell through a hole in his pocket to the ground and discharged a bullet, which fatally wounded Special Agent Ingle.
