    Hundreds of FBI special agents partnered with thousands of other law enforcement personnel in the sixth iteration of Operation Cross Country. Full Story

  2. New York: Cyber Crime Takedown Results in 24 Arrests in Eight Countries

    The coordinated international law enforcement action was directed at “carding” crimes—offenses in which the Internet is used to traffic in and exploit stolen credit card, bank account, and other personal identification information. Full Story

  3. New Haven: United Technologies Subsidiary Pleads Guilty to Criminal Charges for Helping China Develop New Attack Helicopter

    Pratt & Whitney Canada Corp., a Canadian subsidiary of the Connecticut-based defense contractor United Technologies Corp., pled guilty Thursday to violating the Arms Export Control Act and making false statements in connection with its illegal export to China of U.S.-origin military software used to develop China’s first modern military attack helicopter.   5. Miami: Woman Pleads Guilty to Participating in $63 Million Medicare Fraud Scheme

    Sarah Da Silva Keller pled guilty for her role in a health care fraud scheme that resulted in the submission of more than $63 million in fraudulent claims to Medicare and Medicaid. Full Story

  6. Chicago: Former County Commissioner, Alderman, and Five Businessmen Charged in Three Alleged Bribery Schemes

    Federal corruption charges were unveiled in three separate bribery complaints. Two former local public officials, former Cook County Commissioner Joseph Mario Moreno and former Chicago Alderman Ambrosio Medrano, were each charged in two of the three complaints. Full Story
  7. Washington: Barclays Bank PLC Admits Misconduct Related to Submissions for the London InterBank Offered Rate and the Euro InterBank Offered Rate and Agrees to Pay $160 Million Penalty

    Barclays Bank PLC, a financial institution headquartered in London, entered into an agreement with the Department of Justice to pay a $160 million penalty to resolve violations arising from Barclays’ submissions for the benchmark interest rates used in financial markets around the world.   9. Cincinnati: Former Teacher Receives 15-Year Sentence for Possession and Transportation of Child Pornography

    Ryan Fahrenkamp was sentenced to 180 months in prison, followed by court supervision for the rest of his life, for accessing child pornography websites using a laptop that belonged to the school where he taught and for taking pornographic images of former students. Full Story
