Washington, D.C. — The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) was recently ranked by The Black Collegian magazine as the 25th best diversity employer out of a pool of 100 private industry companies and government agencies.

Since September 11, 2001, the FBI mission has evolved to become more prevention-based. To further accomplish this mission, the FBI continues to add professional staff, special agents, intelligence analysts, and linguists with a variety of backgrounds and skill sets. The FBI mission demands a diverse workplace trained in certain critical skills that will enable the bureau to continue to meet its mission.

Mary Hannagan, Acting Assistant Director for the Administrative Services Division said: “This recognition exemplifies the FBI’s interest in developing a skilled cadre of personnel that best represents the population of the bureau’s jurisdiction. The FBI is interested in bringing on board the best and the brightest and was recognized by The Black Collegian for wanting to recruit Black collegians and people of color to achieve work place diversity. The FBI recognizes the need for a diverse workplace and we continue to strive toward that goal with our recruiting and hiring initiatives. It is an honor to be recognized as a top diversity employer by The Black Collegian.”

This year marks the 35th year of publication for The Black Collegian, and it is widely recognized as the career magazine and website for students of color.
