Dean Bryant Named Special Agent in Charge of the St. Louis Division

Director Robert S. Mueller, III has named Dean C. Bryant the special agent in charge of the St. Louis Field Office. Mr. Bryant most recently served as the chief of the Critical Incident Response Group’s Hazardous Devices Operations Section near Quantico, Virginia. In this role, he was the senior FBI executive and chairman of the Joint Program Office responsible for coordinating with the interagency and the White House’s National Security Staff to ensure specific aspects of national security were in place.

Mr. Bryant entered on duty as a special agent with the FBI in 1991 and was assigned to the Miami Field Division, where he worked public corruption, violent crimes, and fugitive cases. He was also a member of the SWAT team.

In 2000, Mr. Bryant transferred to the Mobile Field Division’s Monroeville Resident Agency, where he worked all FBI-enforced violations. Mr. Bryant was promoted to supervisory special agent in 2003 and assigned to the Counterterrorism Division at FBI Headquarters in Washington, D.C. He also deployed to the Middle East in Qatar and Iraq in support of the FBI’s mission.

In 2005, Mr. Bryant was promoted to be the supervisory senior resident agent of the Springfield and Joplin, Missouri Resident Agencies, which are part of the Kansas City Field Office. He was responsible for FBI investigations of all violations in 32 counties within Missouri and Kansas. During this assignment, Mr. Bryant served as the FBI’s deputy on-scene commander in Iraq in support of the Counterterrorism Division.

In 2008, Mr. Bryant was promoted to assistant special agent in charge of the Washington Field Office, where he supervised the Aviation, Surveillance, and Technical Programs.

Before joining the FBI, Mr. Bryant served as a railroad investigator for 11 years in Illinois, Georgia, and Alabama. He graduated from Troy State University in Troy, Alabama with a degree in criminal justice.

Mr. Bryant and his wife have been married for 33 years and have a son and daughter and several grandchildren.
