FBI Director James B. Comey has named Martin Culbreth as the special agent in charge of the Norfolk Division. Mr. Culbreth most recently served as the section chief of the Strategic Information and Operations Center at FBI Headquarters.

Mr. Culbreth entered on duty with the FBI in 1995. He was first assigned to the Washington Field Office, where he worked primarily counterintelligence and public corruption matters. He became a certified technically trained agent and provided technical operations support for a myriad of sensitive investigation, to include the arrest of Robert Hanssen.

Mr. Culbreth provided support to special events such as the Super Bowls XXXIX and XLII and the 2004 and 2006 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece and Turin, Italy. In 2009, Mr. Culbreth received the Director’s Award for Distinguished Service to the Law Enforcement Community for his service during the 2009 presidential inauguration.

Throughout his career, Mr. Culbreth has held leadership positions in the Critical Incident Response Group, the Washington Field Office, the Operational Technology Division, and the Saint Louis Division. Mr. Culbreth will assume this new role at the end of October.
