Brian Brooks Named Assistant Director of the Operational Technology Division

FBI Director Christopher Wray has named Brian Brooks as the assistant director of the Operational Technology Division. Mr. Brooks most recently served as the deputy assistant director for the Technical Operations and Development Branch in the Operational Technology Division at FBI Headquarters (FBI HQ) in Washington, D.C.

Mr. Brooks entered on duty as a special agent with the FBI in 1996 and was first assigned to the New York Field Office, where he investigated counterintelligence matters. Following the September 11, 2001 terror attacks, Mr. Brooks was assigned to an investigative response squad, which focused on pending international terrorist threats to the New York City area. During his assignment to the New York Field Office, Mr. Brooks served on the New York SWAT Team.

Throughout his career, Mr. Brooks has held a number of leadership positions in the Counterintelligence Division at FBI HQ and at the FBI’s Washington Field Office. In these positions, Mr. Brooks provided national leadership in areas such as Eurasian counter-proliferation, counter-espionage, and other intelligence based threats to the United States.
