FBI Springfield Teen Academy Offers High School Juniors and Seniors an Inside Look at the FBI

SPRINGFIELD—The application window is currently open for FBI Springfield’s Teen Academy to be held Wednesday, August 7, 2024. Teen Academy provides a unique opportunity for motivated high school students to develop leadership skills and investigate the world of law enforcement by engaging in team-building experiences, discovering careers in law enforcement, and learning to communicate and collaborate across cultures.

FBI staff, including special agents, intelligence analysts, and professional staff will lead discussions and interactive sessions focused on age-appropriate lessons about federal violations the FBI investigates such as cyber, counterterrorism, violent gangs, and fraud. Activities will include hands-on forensics work and more.

“Teen Academy gives high schoolers the chance to interact with FBI personnel and develop a better understanding of what we do, how we do it—and most importantly—why we do it,” said FBI Springfield Field Office Special Agent in Charge David Nanz.

Teen Academy is open to rising junior and senior high school students in the 2024-2025 school year who have an interest in leadership and service. Students must attend school in central or southern Illinois. The academy will be held from 8:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on August 7, 2024, at the Springfield Field Office.

Students must go online to access the application. Further information about Teen Academy can be found online. The application deadline is Friday, May 31, 2024. Students will be notified no later than June 28, 2024, if they are selected to participate.
