FBI Omaha Announces Uniting Women in Criminal Justice Networking Event

OMAHA, NE—The FBI Omaha Field Office and the University of Nebraska Omaha (UNO) School of Criminology and Criminal Justice will co-host a Uniting Women in Criminal Justice Networking (#cjWOMENunite) event on Tuesday, March 31, 2020, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on the UNO campus. Special Agent in Charge (SAC) Kristi Johnson will provide the keynote address.

“One of the core values of the FBI is diversity,” said SAC Johnson. “Law enforcement benefits when we acknowledge our differences yet pursue unity to achieve the shared mission of justice for all. When women feel empowered not just to pursue a career in law enforcement, but aspire to lead in law enforcement, our diverse views and life experiences promote this mission.”

Dr. Samantha Clinkinbeard, UNO undergraduate program coordinator, remarked, “The inaugural event in 2018 featured a panel of successful women from criminal justice. Our research finds that direct interactions with professionals in the field are especially important for motivating women to pursue careers such as law enforcement. This event is a great way to facilitate those important, non-threatening interactions with role models who put on the uniform every day.”

Numerous local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies will be present to give attendees an opportunity to ask questions and network in a less formal setting. Individuals interested in attending this event can learn more and register at https://cjwomenunite.eventbrite.com.
