Armed Bank Robbery Fugitive Malcolm Lorenzo Jones Arrested Today

Angela L. Byers, Special Agent in Charge, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Cincinnati Field Office, announced today that Malcolm Lorenzo Jones, 21, of Cincinnati, has been arrested and is in federal custody.

Jones was arrested after 2:00 p.m. today by FBI Special Agents, officers from the Cincinnati Police Department, and deputies from the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office at a residence in Cleves, OH.

Jones was previously indicted by a federal grand jury for his alleged involvement in the armed bank robbery of the Key Bank on Springdale Road in Colerain Township on May 22, 2017. During the alleged robbery, Jones exchanged gunfire with an off-duty police officer before fleeing on foot. The robbery was investigated by the Colerain Police Department and the FBI.

A federal arrest warrant was issued for Jones in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, on May 26, 2017, after he was charged with conspiracy to use a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence, armed bank robbery, and use of a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence.

This case is being prosecuted by U.S. Attorney Benjamin C. Glassman's office.

An indictment merely contains allegations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
