BIRMINGHAM—Special Agent in Charge (SAC) Patrick J. Maley and Chief Chris Hargett, Russellville, Alabama Police Department, announced today that Angel Everado Montoya, age 6, and Christian Santos Montoya, age 5, of Russellville, Alabama, were recovered on the evening of March 14, 2011,  by the Indianapolis, Indiana Police Department and the FBI. The children are currently in the care of child welfare services in Indiana. Teresa Lynn McGee, age 30, was arrested on local charges in Indianapolis and will be extradited to Russellville to face kidnapping charges.

On March 14, 2011, the Russellville Police Department was contacted by school officials who were concerned about the location and welfare of the boys. School officials were contacted by McGee on Monday in an effort to withdraw Angel and Christian Montoya from school. School officials advised McGee that the father was required to authorize their withdrawal, at which time she put a male subject on the phone who was impersonating the father. McGee had previously faxed information to the school from an Office Depot location in Indianapolis, Indiana. School officials then called the father’s place of employment, and when he answered, they immediately notified the Russellville Police Department. Once the Russellville Police Department determined the last known location to be in Indiana, they contacted the Florence Resident Agency of the FBI. Through a collaborative effort, investigators from the Russellville Police Department and FBI agents developed information that led their counterparts in Indianapolis to the apartment complex where the children were recovered.

McGee is scheduled to appear for an extradition hearing at 10:00 a.m., on March 16, 2011, in Indianapolis, Indiana.

SAC Maley and Chief Hargett expressed their appreciation to the Indianapolis Police Department and the Indianapolis Division of the FBI.
