Mollie Halpern: An academy for the world’s top law enforcement leaders marks a major milestone.

The FBI National Academy conferred a diploma upon its 50,000th student in a recent commencement ceremony.

Jeffrey McCormick: Please join me in congratulating the 50,000th graduate of the National Academy, Amy C. Schreiner.

[Applause]

Halpern: The FBI National Academy is a 10-week accredited program designed to enhance law enforcement standards around the globe.

Unit Chief Jeffrey McCormick says students from the United States and more than 170 countries are nominated to attend the academy.

McCormick: By spending 10 weeks together, we recognize the fact that we're all trying to serve the same mission, which is a better world through law enforcement.

Halpern: Joey Reynolds is a graduate of the academy and serves as the president of its alumni association, the FBI National Academy Associates.

Joey Reynolds: Crime has grown globally, and it's forced us in law enforcement to react to that. And to do that, we've got to be able to work together, we've got to collaborate, and we've got to cooperate. And the National Academy really teaches us how to do that.
