MADISON, WI—A federal grand jury in the Western District of Wisconsin, sitting in Madison, has returned the following indictments today. You are advised that a charge is merely an accusation and that a defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

Superior Resident Charged with Producing Child Pornography

Roger Aleshire, 49, Superior, Wis., is charged with using a minor to engage in sexually explicit conduct for the purpose of producing a visual depiction of such conduct. The indictment alleges that on January 27, 2014, he used a phone to produce the child pornography.

Aleshire was originally charged with this offense in a complaint filed in U.S. District Court on July 11. He made an initial appearance in federal court in Madison on July 14. His arraignment is scheduled for July 21 at 1:30 p.m.

If convicted, Aleshire faces a mandatory minimum penalty of 15 years and a maximum penalty of 30 years in federal prison. The charge against him is the result of an investigation by the Superior Police Department and Federal Bureau of Investigation. The prosecution of this case will be handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Elizabeth Altman.

Beloit Man Charged with Drug Crime

William Ellis, 28, Beloit, Wis., is charged with possessing crack cocaine with intent to distribute. The indictment alleges that he possessed the crack cocaine on May 13, 2014.

If convicted, Ellis faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in federal prison. The charge against him is the result of an investigation by the Beloit Police Department and G-Roc Safe Streets Task Force. The prosecution of this case will be handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Paul Connell.
