A DIRECTOR OF A LOCAL NON—profit organization that works with children was charged federally with possession of child pornography, announced Special Agent in Charge Stephanie Douglas of the FBI’s San Francisco Field Office.

Anthony Josef Norris, 46, of San Francisco, turned himself in to FBI agents today after he was charged in a federal criminal complaint.

According to the complaint filed on May 26, 2011 in U.S. District Court in the Northern District of California, Norris was identified as an individual who allegedly possessed pornographic images of multiple children. He is the founder and serves as the director of Kid Serve, an organization that offers art instruction to children through the Bay Area.

On April 26, 2011, agents executed a search warrant on Norris’ residence and a forensic review of his personal computer revealed files containing child pornography.

Norris made his initial appearance in the U.S. District Court in San Francisco this morning at 9:30 and was released after posting a $200,000 bond.

The maximum statutory sentence for possession of child pornography is 10 years in prison. This case is a continuing investigation being conducted by FBI’s Hayward Resident Agency, which is a part of the FBI San Francisco Division. This case will be prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office in the Northern District of California.

A criminal complaint contains allegations that a defendant has committed a crime. Every defendant is presumed to be innocent until proven guilty.
