Virginia Beach Woman Sentenced to 75 Months for Being Accessory After the Fact

NEWPORT NEWS, VA—Patsy Ann Marie Montowski, 27, of Virginia Beach, Va., was sentenced today to 75 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release, for being an accessory after the fact.

Neil H. MacBride, United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, made the announcement after sentencing by United States District Judge Robert Doumar.

Montowski pled guilty in November, 2009, to being an accessory after the fact with intent to commit murder. According to the court documents, Montowski, assisted her boyfriend, Christopher Neil Lanum, who assaulted his roommate at Fort Eustis, Mitchell Stone, by stabbing him a number of times, including slicing his throat twice from ear to ear. Montowski used a stun gun on the victim. Following the attack, Montowski and her boyfriend fled to the Shenandoah Parkway where Lanum was killed by police in a shootout. Mitchell Stone was airlifted by Nightingale with life threatening injuries but survived the attack.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant United States Attorney Lisa R. McKeel is prosecuting the case on behalf of the United States.
