Jerome M. Pender Named Executive Assistant Director of Information and Technology Branch

Director Robert S. Mueller, III has named Jerome M. Pender executive assistant director of the FBI’s Information and Technology Branch. Mr. Pender most recently served as deputy assistant director of the Criminal Justice Information Services Division.

“Under Jerry’s leadership and expertise, the Information and Technology Branch will continue to advance the technology solutions that will enable us to become a more effective and efficient FBI,” said Director Mueller.

Mr. Pender joined the FBI in 2003 as the deputy assistant director of the Information Services Branch of the Criminal Justice Information Services Division. In this role, he was responsible for the Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System, the National Crime Information Center 2000, the National Instant Criminal Background Check System, and the Law Enforcement Online service. He also provided oversight for the National Data Exchange, Next Generation Identification, UCR Replacement, and biometric interoperability programs.

Before joining the FBI, Mr. Pender was employed for 13 years with UBS, a worldwide financial services company, rising to the position of executive director for information technology.

Mr. Pender graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy and has a master’s degree in computer science from Johns Hopkins University. He is married and has three children.
