Carthage, Texas Resident Pleads Guilty to Trying to Entice an Underage Girl to Have Sex

SHREVEPORT, LA—U.S. Attorney Stephanie A. Finley announced today that Sammy D. Mosely, 39, of Carthage, Texas, pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge S. Maurice Hicks to attempting to entice a minor to engage in criminal sexual activity.

According to evidence presented at the guilty plea, Mosely responded to an online advertisement July 24, 2013 soliciting a mother and daughter for sex. Mosely began to correspond with a law enforcement officer posing as a 13-year-old girl. Mosely negotiated prices for sex with the minor and asked her to send nude pictures of herself. Mosely was arrested on August 1, 2013 at a meeting place in Bossier City, Louisiana, where he had agreed to meet the girl and her mother.

Mosely faces 10 years to life in prison, five years to life supervised release, and a $250,000 fine for one count of attempting to entice a minor to engage in sexual activity. A sentencing date of June 26, 2014 was set. The FBI and Louisiana State Police conducted the investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Seth D. Reeg is prosecuting the case.
