Manderson Man Sentenced for Sexual Abuse

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Manderson man charged with one count of aggravated sexual abuse and one count of sexual abuse was sentenced on March 8, 2012 by U.S. District Judge Jeffrey L. Viken. Leo Villarreal, age 27, was sentenced to 120 months’ imprisonment, 10 years’ supervised release, and a $100 assessment to the Victim Assistance Fund.
In March 2010, Villarreal sexually assaulted a child under the age of 16, as well as an adult woman. Villarreal was convicted by a jury after a trial in federal court in June 2011.
This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Bureau of Indian Affairs-Office of Law Enforcement Services. Assistant U.S. Attorney Eric Kelderman prosecuted the case. Villarreal was immediately turned over to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service.
