Little Eagle Man Indicted for Sexual Assault

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Little Eagle, South Dakota man has been indicted by a federal grand jury for two counts of sexual abuse.
Grady Laine Uses Arrow, age 21, was indicted by a federal grand jury on March 13, 2012. He appeared before United States Magistrate Judge William D. Gerdes on March 28, 2012 and pled not guilty to the indictment. The maximum penalty upon conviction is up to life in custody, a $250,000 fine, or both; not less than five years up to life of supervised release; and a $100 special assessment. Restitution may also be ordered.
The charges relate to an allegation that the defendant sexually assaulted another person at Little Eagle in October 2010. The charge is merely an accusation, and Uses Arrow is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
The investigation is being conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Standing Rock Agency. Assistant United States Attorney Mikal Hanson is prosecuting the case. Uses Arrow was remanded to the custody of the United States Marshals Service. A trial date has not yet been set.
