Spokane Man Indicted for Attempting to Transport Firearm on Airplane

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Spokane, Washington man has been indicted by a federal grand jury for trying to conceal a .32 caliber Beretta semi-automatic pistol from security screening at Rapid City Regional Airport.
Jack Robert Bresnahan, Jr., age 64, was indicted by a federal grand jury on January 19, 2011, for unlawful transport of a firearm and carrying a weapon on an aircraft. He appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Veronica L. Duffy on May 3, 2011, and pled not guilty to the indictment. The maximum penalty upon conviction of each count is 10 years’ imprisonment and/or a $250,000 fine. The charges are merely accusations, and Bresnahan is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
The investigation is being conducted by TSA and the FBI. Assistant US Attorney Sarah B. Collins is prosecuting the case. Bresnahan was released on bond pending trial. A trial date has not yet been set.
