Parmelee Man Sentenced to 120 Months in Custody for Production of Child Pornography

PIERRE, SD—United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Parmelee, South Dakota, man charged with production of child pornography was sentenced on March 1, 2011, by United States District Judge Roberto A. Lange. Phillip C. Running, age 23, was sentenced to 120 months in custody, three years of supervised release, and a $200 special assessment to the Victim Assistance Fund.
Running was indicted for production of child pornography by a federal grand jury on August 17, 2010. The charges stem from incidents in which Running videotaped two minor children engaging in sexually explicit conduct on or about between June 2001 and May 2002. He was convicted of the charge on December 7, 2010, as the result of a federal jury trial in Pierre. The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation. Assistant United States Attorney Jay Miller prosecuted the case.
Running was immediately turned over to the custody of the United States Marshal.
