Attempted Robbery of U.S. Bank Branch in Coon Rapids

U.S. Attorney’s Office July 12, 2011
  • Chief Division Counsel Kyle A. Loven (763) 569-8540

On July 12, 2011, at approximately 8:30 a.m., a woman attempted to rob the U.S. Bank branch located at 3990 Main Street NW in Coon Rapids, Minnesota. The woman entered the bank and approached a teller. The woman handed the teller a note that said the woman’s life was in danger and that the teller should empty the teller drawer. The teller asked if the woman was in danger, and the woman replied that she was. The teller asked the woman to take a seat in the bank. The woman then told the teller that she couldn’t do this, then the woman then walked out of the bank without obtaining any money. She was seen entering a late model, tan Chevy Impala being driven by a black male wearing a white baseball cap. The vehicle left the area, and it had been reported stolen from a Forest Lake car dealership in March 2011. No weapon was observed and no one suffered any injuries at the bank.

The woman is described as a white female, between 18 and 23 years old, about 5’5” tall and weighing about 130 to 140 pounds. She has dark eyes, chin length dirty blonde hair, long bangs, and was wearing a turquoise zippered Aeropostle sweatshirt, a tank top underneath, and grey pants. She carried an oversized black bag or purse.

Donald E. Oswald, Special Agent in Charge of the Minneapolis FBI Office, requests that anyone with information regarding this attempted bank robbery contact the Minneapolis FBI Office at 612/376-3200, Coon Rapids Police Department at 763/767-6481 or 763/427-1212, or Crime Stoppers at 800/222-8477.
