Arrest Made in Connection with Ft. Lauderdale Bank Robbery

The FBI announces the arrest of George M. Hernandez, 70, of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, for his alleged involvement in the February 5, 2014 robbery of the SunTrust Bank branch located at 3530 N. Ocean Blvd., Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.

Hernandez was arrested without incident on March 3,2014 at approximately 4:30 p.m. in Hollywood, Florida by the FBI’s South Florida Violent Crime Task Force. However, due to health reasons, he did not have his initial appearance until yesterday (March 11, 2014) in federal court in Ft. Lauderdale.

The FBI and the South Florida Violent Crime Task Force continue their investigation. No further information will be released at this time.
