U.S. Attorney’s Office June 29, 2011
  • Western District of Tennessee (901) 544-4231

MEMPHIS, TN—Terry Wayne Combs, Jr., 29, of Panama City, Florida, was sentenced to serve 168 months of confinement for transportation of child pornography in proceedings before U.S. District Judge S. Thomas Anderson, announced United States Attorney for the Western District of Tennessee Edward L. Stanton, III.

In November and December, 2009, Combs used his cell phone and the Internet to send images depicting the sexual abuse of children to a person he believed was interested in obtaining such images. In reality, the recipient was an undercover operative of the Memphis Crimes Against Children Task Force (MCACTF).

Combs, of Panama City, Florida, will have to serve 10 years of supervised release following his term of incarceration. He will also be required to register as a sex offender under federal and state law.

This case was investigated by MCACTF, which is comprised of agents and officers of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Office of Homeland Security/ICE, the United States Secret Service, the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department, and the Jackson (Tennessee) Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Deb Ireland prosecuted the case for the government.
