|FBI Knoxville September 17, 2013|
FBI Special Agent in Charge (SAC) Kenneth L. Moore, Knoxville Division, together with the Atlanta FBI SAC Mark F. Giuliano and Birmingham FBI SAC Richard D. Schwein, Jr., provides the following information concerning a multi-agency Crisis Response Field Training Exercise (FTX) involving various law enforcement and emergency response units at Birmingham, Alabama; Atlanta, Georgia; and Knoxville, Tennessee areas:
On Wednesday, September 18, 2013, the FBI will be conducting an extensive regional exercise involving various emergency response units and multiple law enforcement agencies in order to better prepare for a critical incident response. Coordinated exercises will be taking place in Birmingham, Alabama; Knoxville, Tennessee; and the Atlanta, Georgia areas. These exercises are routine, but necessary, allowing for much needed training by first responders to the crisis, as well as the command structure coordinating the response.
While these exercises are underway, we have taken every measure to minimize any disruption to the surrounding communities, and we ask for the public’s understanding as we carry out this very important training.
