Suspect Arrested in Robbery of First Tennessee Bank Branch in Knoxville

The Knoxville Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Chief David Rausch of the Knoxville Police Department (KPD) announce the arrest of Leroy Brooks. At approximately 11:15 this morning, Brooks, age 26, of Knoxville, Tennessee, was arrested by members of the FBI’s Safe Streets Task Force (which consists of personnel from the FBI, KPD, and KCSO) and the KPD Major Crimes Unit. Brooks is facing federal charges for bank robbery. He is suspected of robbing the First Tennessee Bank located at 3900 Western Avenue, Knoxville, Tennessee on December 5, 2011. This matter was a joint investigation of the FBI Safe Streets Task Force and KPD.

All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
