INDIANAPOLIS—Daniel A. Kruk, 31, Baltimore, Md., was arrested today in Baltimore upon an indictment charging arson, following a lengthy investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
The indictment alleges that on or about September 9, 2000, Kruk attempted to damage or destroy, by fire, real property located at 644 N. Morton, Bloomington, Southern District of Indiana.
According to Assistant U.S. Attorneys Cynthia J. Ridgeway and Doris L. Pryor, who are prosecuting the case for the government, Kruk faces a maximum of 20 years in prison and a $250,000.00 fine. An initial appearance is scheduled for 11:00 a.m., September 29, 2010, before a U.S. Magistrate Judge.
An indictment is only a charge and is not evidence of guilt. A defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial at which the government must prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
