FBI Announces an Arrest Made in Connection with a Bank Robbery Spree

The FBI announces the arrest of Derek Bailey, 57, from Jamaica, for his alleged involvement in the robbery of a Wells Fargo Bank branch at 702 N. University Drive in Pembroke Pines, Florida and attempted robbery of a Citibank located at 8411 Pines Boulevard in Pembroke Pines, Florida, both on April 29, 2015.

The arrest was made without incident on June 23 around 6:30 p.m. by the Seminole Police Department and the FBI in Hollywood, Florida.

Bailey is being charged for the robberies on April 29, 2015, which were committed by an individual investigators nicknamed the Lucky Bandit.

The other robberies linked to the Lucky Bandit are still under investigation.

Bailey is in federal custody and is facing federal charges. His initial appearance is expected to be in Fort Lauderdale Federal Court on June 24.

Broward Sheriff’s Office, Pembroke Pines Police Department, the South Florida Violent Crimes Task Force, and the FBI continue their investigation.
