Chattanooga Bank Robbery

The Knoxville Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Chattanooga Police Department are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the man who robbed the Health Care Services Credit Union in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

At approximately 2:45 p.m. on September 15, 2016, a man entered the Health Care Services Credit Union at 946 East 3rd Street in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He demanded money from the bank employees and threatened to blow up the bank, while placing an item on top of the teller counter. After obtaining an undisclosed amount of money, he fled the bank on foot, eastbound, leaving the item on the counter. The Chattanooga Police Department bomb squad later determined the item to be a hoax device. The subject has been described as follows:

  • Black, male
  • Age: Late-20s to mid-30s
  • Red shirt with a yellow symbol on the front
  • Goatee
  • Boonie-style hat
  • Carrying a blue backpack
