FBI Arrests Atlanta Police Murder Fugitive at Charleston, South Carolina

ATLANTA—David J. LeValley, special agent in charge (SAC), FBI Atlanta Field Office, in conjunction with SAC Alphonso “Jody” Norris, FBI Columbia Field Office, and Atlanta Police Chief Erica Shields, announces the following arrest at Charleston, South Carolina.

Purcious Smith, age 29, of Atlanta, Georgia, was arrested today, November 2, 2017, without incident by FBI agents of the FBI Columbia Field Office/Charleston Resident Agency, in coordination with Atlanta Police and FBI Atlanta working their respective investigations out of Atlanta.

Smith is wanted on Atlanta Police warrants charging him with felony murder and armed robbery in connection with the October 17, 2017 shooting death of Sergio Collins, which occurred in the 200 block of Elm Street in Atlanta, Georgia. Collins was found shot to death inside of a vehicle located in a parking lot of a Lithonia, Georgia shopping center.

Smith will be held in Charleston, South Carolina where he will await extradition proceedings seeking to return him to Atlanta on those charges.
