Public’s Help Sought in Search for “North Riverside Bandit”

FBI Chicago April 27, 2011
  • Special Agent Garrett Croon (312) 829-1199

Robert D. Grant, Special Agent in Charge of the Chicago Field Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), is asking for the public’s help in identifying the individual depicted in the below wanted flyer, who is believed responsible for the armed robbery of the TCF Bank branch, located at 7201 West 24th Street in North Riverside.

The theft occurred on March 23 of this year, when the robber entered the bank area and approached a teller. He then handed her a demand note written on the back of a deposit ticket. The note claimed that the robber was armed and threatened the teller with harm if his demands were not met. After obtaining an undisclosed amount of money from the teller, the robber fled the bank on foot, disappearing into the passing crowd.

The robber is described as a white male, 40 - 50 years of age, 6’ 0” tall, medium build, black hair, with a mustache and beard. He was wearing black-framed sunglasses, a blue-colored windbreaker, and a baseball-style cap with a Chicago Blackhawks logo on the front.

No injuries were reported during the theft, which is being investigated jointly by the FBI and the North Riverside Police Department. Anyone recognizing this individual or having any information about this robbery is asked to call the Chicago FBI at (312) 421-6700.

Additional information about this case and other unsolved Chicago area bank robberies, including downloadable photographs, is available online at the Bandit Tracker website, www.bandittrackerchicago.com.
